Duhme Antique Sterling 'Hamburg' Serving Fork, Cincinnati, OH, c. 1880s

If this weren't stamped by Duhme & Co, we would swear this was a rare piece of Gorham's 'Hamburg' pattern. In ways, it makes this item more intriguing and rare.

Made of heavy gauge silver, this lovely server has a hammered surface and a twisted lower handle. The upper handle has an irregular edge, some cute, chased foliage, and an impressed scene of a bird's nest (is it a tribute to another Gorham famous pattern?). The reverse is nicely engraved with an 'EMH' monogram.

Provenance: Private Collection.

This wonderful antique serving fork is stamped 'DUHME & CO./ STERLING.' It measures 8.75 inches long, weighs 3.15 troy ounces and is in excellent condition.
