Dominick & Haff Antique Sterling Silver Water Pitcher, New York City, c 1896
$0.00
Wonderful designs and bold castings make this water pitcher one of the nicer ones we've ever offered in the belle epoque style. The body, with wide spiral fluting, is decorated with wonderful deep repousse leaves and flowers in bloom. The wonderful castings applied to the handle and the rim of the spout compliment the repousse design. There is a lovely 'MLC' monogram on the front of the neck. Most unusual are the six cast and applied feet. They are boldly cast depictions of the flowers and are pierced amongst the flowing foliage. All these various designs and construction elements are incorporated to create an object of beauty with great presence and design.
The base is marked with Dominick & Haff's trademark which incorporates the 1896 date of manufacture. It is also stamped 'STERLING' along with the model number '320' and the New York retailer 'Theodore B. Starr'. It measures 11.5 inches high by 8.5 inches wide, weighs a very hefty 50.75 troy ounces and is in excellent condition.
