A bold, hand wrought piece of modern silver, this cake server features a large blade with a shimmering hammered surface and a scrolling handle from which emerges a blossom in the Danish modern taste.
Petersen is considered the most important silversmith working in Canada during the mid 20th century. Having trained with Georg Jensen in Copenhagen, he emigrated to Canada in 1929. Due to the depression, it was only after the war that he was able to set up his own shop which became quite successful.
This wonderful server measures 10.75 inches long, the blade is approximately 1.625 inches wide and it weighs 3.5 troy ounces. Marked on the back with Petersen's trademark, the Canadian sterling mark and "PETERSEN", "HAND MADE" and "STERLING". It is in excellent condition.
