Black, Starr & Frost Antique Sterling Silver Figural Rabbits Bowl, New York City, c. 1900

This unusual bowl is beautifully designed and quite striking. The irregularly shaped rim is reinforced and decorated with applied blades of grass. The body is supported by the backs of three rabbits.

Each of the rabbits are in a standing position. The background to which they are applied is hand-chased with blades of grass and flowers. Two of the scenes are very similar and the third scene incorporates a spider web into the design.

This rare small bowl is marked underneath 'BLACK, STARR & FROST/NEW YORK/ STERLING/ 4472' along with their trademark. It measures 5.5 inches in circumference by 2.25 inches high, weighs 6.85 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
