Durgin(attr) Antique Sterling Cattail Design Oyster Fork, Concord, NH,c. 1880s

This cute oyster fork is in the naturalistic form of a cattail. Attached to the curved, rod handle is the gilt bowl and tines. A simple wire curves around the base of the handle terminating in a lily pad which conceals the connection of the handle to the bowl.

This rare oyster fork is marked 'PAT. APD. FOR/ STERLING.' It measures 6 inches long, weighs .85 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
