Exceptional design and casting make this rare pair of ewers quite remarkable. Based on renaissance designs, these ewers are highly ornamented with arabesques, animals and masks.

They were presentation pieces to Lord Walsingham for his 'exhibition of fat cattle and sheep', one in 1864 the other in 1866.

'Walsingham' sheep were very famous in the 19th century and some were exported to the United States.
