Wood and Hughes Coin Silver Medallion Gravy Ladle, NYC, NY, c. late 1860s
Made from multiple parts, this stunning ladle features a female portrait medallion against a stippled background. This oval display is flanked with three ball decorations and the reverse is engraved with a lovely 'FJH' monogram. The curved handle is decorated below the medallion with pierced, classical design and the shaped, fluted bowl is lightly gilded.
This wonderful ladle is marked 'W&H/ STERLING.' It measures 9 inches long, weighs 3 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition with light wear to the gilding in the bowl.
