Simons Brothers & Co. was founded in 1840 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and were successors to Peter L. Krider Co. in 1903. We rarely see items from this company and this large coffee and tea service is exquisite. The shapes of the pots are quite unusual with their hourglass form bodies with wide handles and spouts. Superbly detailed repoussé work of various flowers and foliage on a stippled background encompass each piece. Cast and applied leaves and scrolling devices border the rims and bases of all the pieces. There is a single cartouche on the side which bears a lovely script 'DRKC' monogram.

All pieces are marked with Simon Bros. & Co's trademark along with 'STERLING' and model numbers. The tea kettle on stand measures 11 inches high to the top of the handle. The coffee pot is 9 inches high. This lovely service has a combined weight of 135.05 troy ounces and is in excellent condition. It retains its original ivory insulators on the handles and gilding to the interior of the waste bowl and cream jug.
