This wonderful tea pot is boldly designed with diverse classical and natural ornamentation. Applied wire molding frames repousséd and chased laurel leaves around the midsection of the spherical body. An applied medallion features a female bust against a lined background while the opposite area is engraved with a lovely 'M' intertwined with a sideways 'K' monogram. Classical engraving decorates the areas above and below both medallions.
Four applied masks decorate the tops of straps which lead down to the splayed feet terminating in animal hoofs. A ram's head acts as a thumbpiece on the bold handle opposite the curved spout with an applied medallion.
This lovely tea pot measures 9.25 inches across the handle and spout by 8 inches high and weighs 29.95 troy ounces. It is marked with the '925/1000" within a shield trademark that John Wendt used. It is also marked by the great Philadelphia retailer 'BAILEY & CO/ PHILA.' It is in excellent antique condition with a small area of restoration on the handle.
