Gorham "Lady's" Pattern Antique Sterling Silver Soup Ladle, Providence, RI, c. 1868

1 item left

An early and scarce pattern by Gorham, 'Lady's,' features a wonderfully detailed casting of a woman's hand with a ring holding the bowl of this server. Made from multiple parts, decorative bands attach the hand section to the handle's stem and the upper part. A circular disc with a bowed ribbon is decorated with an engraved circle around a bright-cut engraved, intricate 'AAM' monogram. The deep bowl retains its original gilt interior.

This pattern's design, whimsy, and details can only be truly appreciated on larger servers like this. See the image of the hand with its well-defined ring.

This very rare sterling ladle is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'PATENT 1868/STERLING/ GORHAM MFG. CO.' It measures 13 inches long, weighs 7.15 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
