Gorham Antique Sterling Silver 'Louis XIV' Pattern Macaroni Server, Providence, RI, c. 1870

Louis XIV is a rare and stunning pattern that incorporates opulent régence design in its shaped handle. The reserve is engraved with an 'EEJ' monogram.

Most interesting is how Gorham used various wonderful designs in the bowls and on the blades of the serving pieces in this pattern. This pasta server has a matte finish on the front, which is gilded. It has four recessed circles which are beautifully pierced along with other complimentary piercings to the blade. Fine engraving decorates the edge of the sides and tines.

This wonderful server is marked with Gorham's trademark  and 'STERLING/ PATENT 1870.' It measures just shy of 10.5 inches long, weighs 2.60 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
