Old Newbury Crafters Modern Sterling Silver Coffee/ Tea Set, Amesbury, MA, c. 1970

A stunning example of modern American silver, this handmade coffee service displays lively, shimmering, hammered surfaces. The bold design of the pot incorporates a protruding tapering spout and curved, carved wood handle attached to flat, horizontal silver bars attached to the body. The silver creamer mimics the same coffee pot construction, and the canister-shaped sugar bowl has a removable stepped cover with a scroll finial, as does the pot.

This lovely set is marked 'ONC/ STERLING/ 9.' A collaborative effort - not uncommon in the arts & crafts world - was used to create this set as the pot and sugar bowl have maker's marks for Daniel S. Morrill and the creamer for Fletcher S. Carter. The pot measures 10 inches high. This service weighs a total of 38.70 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed, and is in excellent condition.
