Of exceptional design and quality, this lovely 3-piece coffee set was made by Wood & Hughes from New York, c. 1860. Flaring bulbous bodies resting on stepped pedestal feet are decorated with a row of cast and applied beading; above which is wonderful classical Grecian leaf and teardrop engraving. This motif is complimented in the cast and applied thumb-pieces to all the handles.

Unique finials consisting of conical elements with fine beading on pierced architectural elements of rectangles and cubes adorn each piece. Inverted teardrop engraving decorates the lids bordered by applied beading. The cream pitcher's pouring spout is in the shape of a heart. The family name of 'Keith' is engraved in an old English style on one side of each piece.

This lovely coffee set is marked underneath with the Wood & Hughes mark 'W3H' along with the coin silver standard '900/1000'. The coffee pot measures 11.25 inches high. The set has a combined weight of 65.80 troy ounces and is in very good condition. It is engraved inconspicuously underneath with an owner's name and social security number.
