Extremely rare is this wonderful mustard pot. The tripod base is made of three legs with faces adorned with leaves and berry headdresses and tied ribbons. Stippled foliage rises from the pad feet. A linked scroll design decorates the upper rim below a ring of bold beads. The substructure has a raised platform that strengthens the legs and supports the (replaced) clear glass insert. Behind the hinge is a scroll handle with foliage decoration. The stepped dome cover is decorated with cascading acanthus leaves, flowers, and berries surrounding the complimentary finial.

This exquisite mustard pot is marked 'BALDWIN & CO/ NEWARK, NJ/ MANUFACTURERS/ along with a horse chevron and a crowned leopard head. It measures 3.5 inches across the handle by 3.5 inches high, weighs 3.0 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition with a replaced glass liner.

A similar mustard pot without a handle was part of the Martha and Dean Fales collection, purchased by Iris Schwartz. It was then sold on January 20, 2019 (lot 3163) at Sotheby's as part of the one-owner sale of part of the Iris Schwartz Collection, Morristown, NJ. It is now in the collection of The Newark Museum of Art. You can do a search of their Collections here.
