Tiffany & Co. 'Lap Over Edge' Sterling Silver Large Soup Ladle, NYC, NY, c. 1880-91

"Lap Over Edge is generally regarded as the most innovative of Tiffany's flatware patterns" (Tiffany Silver Flatware by William P. Hood, Jr., p. 219). This rare soup ladle has a round, deep bowl. The front of the handle is masterfully decorated with acid-etched designs of hollyhocks. The back is nicely engraved with a 'FK' monogram.

The back of this magnificent ladle is stamped 'M/ TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ PAT. 1880.' It measures 13 inches long, weighs 9.45 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
