Tiffany & Co. 'English King' Pattern Antique Sterling Silver Asparagus Tongs, New York City, 1885-91

'English King' is a popular and classic pattern featuring a bold shell relief and foliate decoration. The pattern decorates the top of the upper handle and the underside of the bottom handle. The flat blade is used to scoop the food while the hooded upper blade is used to hold the asparagus. The upper blade is beautifully pierced and hand-engraved in a design which reflects that pattern on the handle.

This rare antique server is marked 'TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ PAT 1885/ M'. It is monogrammed at the top 'CAY', measures 7.5 inches long, weighs 7.25 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
