Gorham Antique Coin Silver Child's Cup with Romantic Repoussé Scenery, Providence, RI, 1862

This cute cup is a nice, early example of Gorham silver. Romantic landscapes are repoussé in the side panels. One features a house in the woods next to a lake and mountains, while the opposite side features a castle overlooking a lake and mountains. The front is engraved with the recipient 'Perry Lynes Hobbs/ Sept 10, 1862.' Online searches state his birthday was Sept 10, 1861, so this could have been a 1st birthday gift.

This lovely cup is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'COIN/ 194.' It measures 4 inches across the handle by 3.25 inches high, weighs 5.15 troy ounces, and is in good antique condition with surface scratches.
