Gorham "Lady's" Pattern Antique Sterling Silver Double-Olive Server, Providence, RI, c. 1868

1 item left

This rare and early olive server in Gorham's "Lady's" pattern is a wonderful and whimsical design. Holding the trident section, as if serving, is an actual casting of a woman's hand. Sometimes, the hand is sporting a ring on the wedding finger. This is the only time we've seen the hand, with its decorative cuff, wearing a ring on the index and pinky fingers. The bowl at one end and fork at the other are covered with their original gilding.  Made from multiple pieces, circular bands attach the various parts.

This rare sterling server is marked by the NYC jeweler 'A. RUMRILL & Co.' and 'STERLING.' It measures 10.5 inches long. weighs 1.5 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
