This is an unusual design, and very useful serving implement. The dramatic design features a hollow handle with various scroll and swirl elements.
The trident prong fork is also beautifully designed with robust decoration around its shoulders and traveling partway up the tines. The outer tines have a graceful curve, and the tips curve slightly upwards for better use.
This intriguing server is marked on one side of the handle with Gorham's trademarks along with 'COPYRIGHTED 1890/ STERLING/ 465' and with the rooster symbol date mark of 1893. It measures just shy of 6.5 inches long, weighs 1.05 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition.
