Stavre Gregor Panis Arts & Crafts Sterling Silver Ice Tea Spoons -6, Falmouth, MA, c. 1950s
This lovely and fun set of ice tea spoons are decorated with various nautical/ nature inspired motifs for which Gladys and Gregor Panis were famous. The tops consist of a dolphin?, sailboat, seahorse, seagull, horseshoe crab and a whale. The long stems are hammered and exhibit a nice shimmering contrast to the plain bowls.
These pieces come from the collection of a marine biologist and his wife who summered on the Cape while he worked at The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Most of the collection was purchased in the 1950s. They have descended in the family.
This wonderful set is stamped 'SGP' within a triangle and 'STERLING.' They measure 7.75 inches long, weigh a total 2.95 troy ounces and are in very good condition.
