Wood & Hughes Antique Sterling Silver Aesthetic Movement Bowl, New York City, NY, c. 1880

This is a wonderful example of Wood & Hughes's aesthetic designs. The applied decoration along the outer rim is of repeating half-wheels and florets. A wonderful honeycomb design creates the lower part of the body seperated from the decorative border by an unadorned area.

This lovely antique sterling silver bowl is stamped by the great New York silversmithing firm "W&H' and 'STERLING/ 160'. It measure 8 inches in diameter by just over 3.5 inches high, weighs 14.30 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
