With bold hammering, this large oval platter is a wonderful piece of arts & crafts silver.  An applied hammered band reinforces the edge.  A striking pierced, applied and engraved monogram in a medieval style, 'MFR', is featured along the raised border.

Robert Sturm was an accomplished arts and crafts silversmith working in Cincinnati, Ohio during the first half of the 20th century.  His work can be found in the collection of the Cincinnati Museum of Art.

This lovely platter measures 19.75 inches long and 14 inches wide and weighs an impressive 57.85 troy ounces.  It is in good condition retaining an old surface with scratches from use.
