Dominick & Haff Pair of Antique Sterling Wine Coasters, New York City, c. 1900

Outstanding examples of American sterling silver, these wine coasters are rare and beautiful. A good pair of coasters is hard to find and you usually can only find English examples. These were made in New York around the turn of the century. Constructed of heavy gage sterling silver with boldly designed cast 3-dimensional floral decoration repeated 5 times around the shaped rim, they are punctuated by a pierced trellis and scroll design.

The coasters measure 3 inches high by 5.5 inches wide, are marked around the base with 'STERLING', Dominick and Haff's trademark and the model number ''134'. These sterling wine coasters are the nicest American examples we've seen in this form and are in excellent condition, retaining their original mahogany bases.

We believe these flowers are dahlias.
