One of the prettiest Loetz glass vases we have ever seen is enhanced with wonderful silver overlay. Front detail of Loetz Glass with Silver Overlay Vase, c. 1900 The hand-blown glass has a polished pontil underneath. A spherical body with conical neck and flaring rim exhibit amazing breadth and depth of shimmering hues covering the color spectrum. This technique is referred to as oil-spot iridescence making each item unique. The organic silver designs with flowers and foliage encase the vase and are hand-engraved for detail. Not only is the design extraordinary but the skill involved to execute such a piece is an art form which only a few companies accomplished. The reserve is engraved with an Old English 'E.P.C.' monogram.

Although unsigned, vases of this design and quality are strongly attributed to the Austrian glass firm Loetz which operated from 1840-1940. This stunning vase is marked on the overlay '999/1000 FINE SILVER'. It measures just over 7 inches high and is in excellent condition.
