Exquisite flowing leaves form the bodies of these rare objects. The naturalistic handles curve outwards and hang downwards attaching to their bodies. The blossom-shaped bodies consist of overlapping leaves and spread out at the necks revealing scenes of a flower stamen and pistil. These small scenes around the top of the neck are the only surfaces not covered in a lovely original gold-wash to wonderful effect. The chased details throughout are stunning.
This rare set is marked underneath with Durgin's early trademark along with 'STERLING SILVER/ 925/1000/ 52' and by the Baltimore, Maryland retailer 'W.H. SAXTON/ BALTO.' The creamer measures 5 inches across the handle and spout by 4.75 inches to the top of the handle. The sugar bowl measures 4 inches tall by 6 inches across the handles. They weigh a combined 15.80 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition with light and pleasing wear to the gilding.
