Shiebler Antique Sterling and Other Metals Large Serving Spoon, NYC, NY, c. 1880

This lovely serving spoon has a large bowl and curved handle decorated with two sections of horizontal steps that wrap around the sides. The flattened top is beautifully adorned with Japanese-inspired ornament, including a brass beetle and dragonfly amongst a gilt floral branch and a copper twig. 

This lovely, antique server is marked with Shiebler's 'S' within wings hallmark and 'STERLING.' It measures 8.75 inches long, weighs 3.70 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed, and is in very good antique condition with light scratching to the bowl.
