McAuliffe & Hadley Sterling Silver Arts & Crafts Coffee Set, Boston, Ma, first half 20th century

1 item left
This lovely coffee set consists of a coffee pot, creamer and two-handled sugar bowl. As did much of the great arts & crafts silver in America, the basic forms borrowed from colonial objects were reinterpreted and transformed into these beautiful objects. Great proportions and graceful lines are enhanced by the subtle hammering of the surfaces. The handles and spout were cast and applied to the raised bodies. Silver banding is applied around the rims and bases for added detailing.

This elegant set is marked underneath 'McAULIFFE & HADLEY/ BOSTON/ STERLING'. McAuliffe & Hadley are thought to be retailers only. Depending on the contractual agreements between maker and retailer, some silver is only marked by the retailer, as is the case with this service. The pot measures 7.25 inches high by 8 inches across the handle and spout. The service weighs a total 29.65 troy ounces, has never been engraved or monogrammed and is in very good/ excellent antique condition.
