We sold these remarkable candlesticks 10 years ago and are excited to be offering them to their next owner. These extremely rare candlesticks feature a spectacular, nautical-inspired design. Made from multiple pieces, they retain their original, removable bobeches.
The cup of each candlestick incorporates shells against wavy seagrass backgrounds flanked by large leaves. The bobeche is designed with scrolling devices between shells.
Traveling down the column, the next section is bold designs of coral. They have irregular surfaces and spiral channeling, one of the elements that conveys movement.
The lower half of the column consists of four stunning dolphins with their bodies intertwined. Based on Renaissance models, the detailing of the faces and scales is wonderful.
The base also conveys movement with wave-inspired designs emanating from the columns. The edges of the base are decorated with bold shells and scroll devices, which match the bobeche in a much larger and more dramatic scale and are engraved with a gothic 'C' initial.
These remarkable candlesticks are works of art. They are incredibly sculptural, detailed, and beautiful.

Each of the bobeche and base is fully hallmarked. The bases are also engraved with an Old English-style 'E' initial. The bases measure just over 6.5 inches in diameter, and they are 12.5 inches high. They are in excellent condition with one small area of seam and one bobeche having been very nicely restored and some insignificant dings around the bases.
