This magnificent serving bowl or centerpiece is in the form of a large shell with tapered flutes and wavy edge. It is supported by three, curved feet forming leaves and calla lilies at their tops.

The back of the bowl features a handle with the same design and a protruding leaf upon which a lobster rests. This beautiful casting is held in place by the original nut.

This rare and striking serving bowl is great for serving a myriad of foods and desserts, not to mention lobster salad. It is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 135/ C' and by the Philadelphia retailer 'BAILEY & CO'. It measures 12 inches long by 11 inches wide by 6.75 inches high to the top of the lobster. It weighs 27 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
