Gorham Antique Sterling Silver 'Louis XIV' Pattern Serving Fork, Providence, RI, c. 1870

Louis XIV is a rare and stunning pattern that incorporates opulent régence design in its shaped handle. The reserve is engraved with a gothic 'B' initial.

Most interesting is how Gorham used various wonderful designs in the bowls and on the blades of the serving pieces in this pattern. This serving fork has a matte finish on the front, covered in gilding. It has five recessed circles which are beautifully pierced along with other complimentary piercings. Fine engraving decorates the edge of the sides and tines.

This wonderful server is marked with Gorham's trademark  and 'STERLING/ PATENT 1870.' It measures just shy of 9.5 inches long, weighs 2.20 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
