Gorham Antique sterling 'Harlequin' Sugar Tongs, Providence, RI, c, 1870s

Notify me when similar is available:

These uncommon sugar tongs are a beautiful and fun design of a court jester in his harlequin suit sporting a hat. Finger rings of snakes are clutched above his head. A single rivet allows for the scissor design to function along with the leaf-shaped grippers below his feet.

These antique sugar tongs are marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 5.' It measures 4.5 inches long, weighs 1.50 troy ounces and is in very good condition with wear to the gilding on his belt.
