Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Wine Coaster, Copenhagen, Denmark, c. 1950's
$0.00
A great example of Jensen silver designed by Jensen himself (c.1917), this stunning wine coaster is lobed around the upper edge. Under the lobing, a band of finely cast, applied and chased grapes and vines is set on a chased foliate background. The base is a traditional piece of turned wood with a felt bottom. Larger than most coasters, this outstanding example with its shimmering hammered surface has great presence.
A full 5 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 ½ inches high, this coaster is in outstanding condition and has never been monogrammed. It bears the 1945-77 Jensen mark and came from a mid-west collection where the collectors were buying their Jensen silver in Denmark during the 1950's. It is also stamped "DENMARK", "STERLING" and model number "229".
