Wood & Hughes Antique Sterling Silver Bust Pattern Sauce Ladle, NYC, c. 1870

This delightful ladle by wood & Hughes features a beautifully cast caryatid based on the Italian Renaissance.  She is beautifully modeled and in wonderfully crisp condition.  The ladle bowl is circular with a pointed base that attaches to a hexagonal shaft handle.  The bowl is gilt on the interior and also crisply matted on the outside which is engraved with an artistic "BR" monogram. Applied as shoulders are two heart-shaped wires.

Measuring 7 inches long, this sauce ladle is marked with "W&H" and "STERLING." It weighs 1.80 troy ounces and is in excellent, crisp, near-mint condition.
