This a stunning fish server by the important Dutch firm of Kempen & Zonen who became Dutch royal silversmiths due the fame they achieved from their exhibit at the 'Crystal Palace' 1851 World's Fair in London.

The handle is made from multiple parts assembled together. The flat top is beautifully shaped and engraved. The twisted rope section is a thick piece of silver capped on both ends with beaded roundels.

The blade is a spectacular figure of a fish with pierced scales and engraved face and fins.

This wonderful server is hallmarked on the reverse. It measures 12.5 inches long, weighs 5.5 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
