Notify me when similar is available:

John Polhamus was an important designer and maker of flatware, retailing many of his objects through Tiffany & Co in New York during the 1850's and 60's. 'Oriental' is one of the earlier sterling patterns. This lovely pie server is engraved at the top of the handle with the monogram 'CPN'.

The exotic pattern incorporates intertwined designs at the top and within smaller roundels above lines of beading down the handle. The pattern also repeats on the reverse side except for the beading. The shaped blade is stunning with flowing engraving of foliate designs. Around the edge are piercings representing flowers.

This uncommon and lovely server is stamped 'J P/ PATENT 1855/ TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING'. It measures just shy of 10.5 inches long, weighs 3.20 troy ounces and is in very good/ excellent condition with slightest wear to the highlights on the handle.
