Gorham 'Morning Glory' Antique Sterling Serving Spoon, Providence, RI, c. 1870s

With a naturalistic handle designed with a reeded stem with leaves at the base and top, this large serving spoon is a stunning example of aesthetic design. The top has a beautiful morning glory in bloom against more leaves of exceptional detail. The shaped bowl is beautifully gilded and engraved with complementary foliage. On the reverse of the bowl is engraved a 'BK' monogram.

This rare spoon is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING.' It measures 10 inches long, weighs 3.10 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
