Peter & William Bateman Pair of Sterling Wine Coasters, London, c. 1806/07

Notify me when similar is available:

These elegant sterling wine coasters are constructed with a flaring rim and a die-rolled and applied gadrooned edge. The centers are the original turned fruit wood bases. The Bateman family is renowned for their finely made silver in the neoclassical style popular in the late 18th and early 19th century. This pair of wine or decanter coasters is a fine example of their legacy.

These wonderful coasters are fully marked around the outer bottom rim. (The marks are a bit rubbed, as is typical of the form). They are in excellent condition with some staining to the wooden bases (and new felt underneath). They measure 5.5 inches round by 1.75 inches high.
