This stunning modern candlestick shimmers from the hand-hammered surface. It consists of a socle and drip pan, an ivory disk and column with large upturned saucer base.

M.T. Wetzlar was an important Munich silversmith working from c. 1905 who went out of business during the 2nd World War. Not only did he display at the 'arts & crafts' exhibitions of the period, but his firm produced designs introduced at those exhibitions by such notable designers such as Fritz Schmoll von Eisenwerth and others.

This lovely silver candle stick is marked underneath 'MTW/ WETZLAR/ MUENCHEN/ e/ 900' and is also stamped with a crescent moon and crown. The 900 signifies the grade of silver used, with 900 being the grade we associate in the US with coin silver. It measures 5.25 inches high, weighs 11.35 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
