This magnificent tray is an early and beautiful form. It rests on four attached rocaille pad feet and has a raised pie-crust shaped border. The interior is beautifully engraved with a lovely coat-of-arms for the Evance family of London with another in pretense. It is also engraved on the back, 'The Gift of Erasmus Deligne Esq,' most likely from the late-18th century.

This early 18th-century tray is fully hallmarked underneath. It measures 15 inches in diameter by just shy of 1.5 inches high, weighs 47.10 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light wear to the engraving.

Provenance: Harry Ashby DeButts, former President of Southern Railroad,
purchased from S. J. Shrubsole in New York City in the 1960s,
by descent in the family.
