Jean Després Mid-Century Modern Silver Plate Sauce Boat with Stand, Avallon, France, c. 1950's

Whether executed in silver, silver plate or pewter, objects by Després are quite rare and visually stunning. This magnificent set is designed with Després famous chain link design attached around the base of the bowl. Stunning honeycomb hammering covers the interior and exterior of the body.A dramatic 2-part handle consists of a flat top decorated and strengthened with a support underneath.

The under tray is hammered on the interior and has a smooth surface around its edge to reflect the hammering on the sauce boat.

This is an exceptional modern design of very high quality and it is rare to find the sauce boat, not to mention its original stand.

This wonderful sauce boat is signed 'J. Després' underneath the handle. It measures 8 inches across by 4 inches high and is in excellent antique condition.
