Tiffany and Co Antique Sterling and Enamel Desk Set, NYC, NY, c. 1885

This magnificent enameled desk set is complete and comes in its original fitted box. It consists of a retractable pencil, ink pen, stamp box, paper clip, paper knife and ivory-handled seal. All of the pieces are decorated with exquisite enameling. A color pallet of rich red, blue, white and mustard yellow enamels conform to the shapes of the various pieces. The ivory seal is intricately and beautifully carved and has an enamel collar holding the steel for sealing wax on letters and documents. The interior surfaces of the clip and the stamp box are gild and engraved with floral scenes.

This rare desk set is marked TIFFANY & CO/ 8155 M 2694/ STERLING-SILVER and is in excellent antique condition. The fitted box with felt lining is stamped TIFFANY & Co/ NEW YORK/ AVE DEL OPERA 38/ PARIS. There is some staining to the exterior leather of the box and to the interior felt.
