Samuel Kirk 11 oz Silver Antique Platter Spoon, Baltimore, 1830-46

This is a rare and early example of flatware by the famous company of Samuel Kirk. The long handle is in the Fiddle Thread pattern and is single struck - meaning the design is only on the front and the reverse of the handle is plain - a feature of their early flatware. The top is engraved with the monogram 'GPH' in a lovely script. The elongated bowl is scalloped around the edge and fluted.

This stunning stuffing or platter spoon is stamped 'S.K' and '11.OZ' in two separate rectangular punches. It measures 12 inches long, weighs 3.55 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light scratching and very slight surface wear.
