Jones, Shreve, Brown and Co Antique Coin Silver Gravy Boat, Boston, c. 1857-1860

Notify me when similar is available:

This beautiful gravy boat is an early example from the business which developed into the famous Shreve, Crump & Low in Boston. The design is quite striking with bold beading around the base and upper edge. Robust repoussé designs of floral bunches amongst foliate swags decorate the large bowl underneath a Greek-key engraved upper band. A cast and applied handle is textured like a plant and has a leaf thumb piece.

The underside of this rare coaster is marked 'Jones, Shreve, Brown & Co' along with 'PURE COIN/ BOSTON.' It measures 6.75 inches across the handle and spout by 5.75 inches tall, weighs 10.70 troy ounces and is in very good/ excellent antique condition with light scratching inside from use.
