J. F. Fradley & Co Antique Sterling Silver Naturalistic Bon Bon Server, New York City, c. 1890

Bon bon servers were very popular in the late 19th century and this is a stunning example. The twisted wire handle with tendrils is designed to resemble a grapevine. At the base of the handle is an applied leaf. The leaf, which is the only part not covered in gilt, gives the server an extra decorative bonus.

The bowl is an exceptional depiction of a grapeleaf with pointed ends to the overlapping leaves.

This rare server is marked on the back with Fradley's trademark along with 'STERLING/ 81'. It measures 5.5 inches long, weighs 0.85 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
