This outstanding oval sterling covered entree server comprises a oval stand with its original burner and wick, warming basin, entree dish and cover. The lid is beautifully engraved with scrolling foliage and floral displays. The lovely engraving is also executed along the rims of the dish, basin, and burner and encompasses the frame of the stand.

All of the original ivory handles are double baluster shaped. The oval upper basin is large and deep while the lower basin is less deep, for water to evenly dissipate the heat from the burner. This base is supported by four vertical legs with a medial stretcher that holds the burner.

This stunning sterling silver entree server is marked 'BSC/ STERLING/ S3/ 4.5 PINTS/ HAND WROUGHT'. It measures 15 inches long over the handles and 10 inches high, weighs 97.70 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in very good antique condition.
