American Antique Sterling Silver Assembled Bright-cut Flatware Service, c. 1880's

Bright-cut flatware patterns were very popular when introduced back in the 1880's and 1890's. The various designs and decorations were inspired by nature and were used to create lovely and unique patterns from various companies. This service was put together over years as a labor of love. We are fortunate to be able to offer this service, now housed in a contemporary Reed & Barton flatware case.

Due to the scarcity of bright-cut engraved knives, a set of mother-of-pearl handled dinner knives with sterling bands and silver plate blades accompany the service. This elegant service consists of the following:

The stunning 12 dinner forks are by Towle in their 'No. 63' pattern. They have stems with leaves travelling up the front with larger leaves and flowers towards the top and are engraved on the back with the initial 'J'.

There are 12 Gorham forks in the 'Antique Engraved 8' pattern. Six dinner forks and six luncheon forks. These are engraved on the back 'Vincent'. There are 6 more luncheon forks in another beautiful Gorham pattern with a gothic 'L' initial.

There is a rare set of 12 small dessert or salad forks by Towle in the 'No. 43' pattern monogrammed 'KMO'.

Also in the 'No. 63' pattern by Towle are 20 teaspoons. There is an additional 12 teaspoons (you can never have enough teaspoons!) in the Lily pattern, also by Towle.First drawer of American Antique Sterling Silver Bright-cut Flatware Service, c. 1880's

There is a set of 12 wonderful ice cream spoons by Gorham in the 'Jac Rose' pattern. Once again, the pattern is cut into a matte-finish background and the fronts are engraved with a gothic 'W' initial. The bowls also have a soft finish on the front and are gilded on both sides.

There is a stunning set of 12 dessert spoons by Whiting engraved in a Japanese inspired design. This size is also used today as oval soup spoons. There are 8 more dessert spoons by Towle in 'No. 63' pattern and engraved on the back with the initial 'J'.

There are 12 seafood forks monogrammed with an 'S' and only marked 'STERLING.

An original set of 12 bright-cut coffee spoons, each with designs, all monogrammed 'G' and marked by the Philadelphia retailer 'JE CALDWELL' are wonderful. Each handle bears an individual design.Server to American Antique Sterling Silver Bright-cut Flatware Service, c. 1880's

One can have a lot of fun with this service with all the various pieces. It sets a lovely, elegant table and there is as lot of silver here. The total count is 164 pieces which weighs a combined 172.20 troy ounces. The pieces are in unusually very good/ excellent condition.
