Tiffany & Co Antique Sterling Silver Peapod Vine Pattern Pea Server, NYC, c. 1880s

Back when silver servers each had a specific purpose, Tiffany created a pea server and, in this case, designed it with an apropos peapod and vine decoration. This detailed design creates a lovely scene of peapods hanging from a vine against a textured background, and it travels around its sides to continue the design on the back. The round bowl is pierced with leaves.

One of these is pictured in Tiffany Silver Flatware 1845-1905 When Dining Was An Art, by William P. Hood, Jr, Roslyn Berlin, Edward Wawrynek, p.199.

This wonderful pierced server is marked 'TIFFANY & Co/ STERLING/ M.' It measures 8.75 inches long, weighs 3.45 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed, and is in excellent antique condition.
