Gorham Antique Sterling Silver '#44' Aesthetic Movement Salad Servers, Providence, RI, c. 1870s

These unusual servers are formed with wire loop handles that morph into "Bird's Nest"-like branches that join the leaf-form the bowls. At the top, the loops are applied with shields engraved with intertwined 'SMP' monograms. Decorating the length of the handles are three ivy leaves with wrapping tendrils. Bold-shaped leaves create the striking bowls.

This fun serving set is marked with Gorham's trademark and "STERLING/ 44." They measure just shy of 9.5 inches long, weigh a combined 4.05 troy ounces, and are in every good/ excellent antique condition.
