Whiting Heraldic Pattern Sterling Macaroni Server, NYC, c. 1890s

Macaroni servers were never common, and they are not seen often on the market today. While we think of macaroni as elbow-shaped today, these are better thought of as pasta servers during the period.  As then, they would work well for many things that need straining.  The toothed edged bowl is scalloped, and the original gilding is in excellent condition.

Heraldic is an uncommon pattern that features bold scrolling leaves flowing down the handle around a shield-shaped reserve below a knight's helmet.  An 'M' monogram is engraved in this shield.

This rare server is marked with Whiting's trademark, "STERLING," and the number "2."  It measures 8.8 inches long, weighs 3.6 troy ounces and is in excellent condition.
