Tiffany & Co Pair of Antique Sterling Silver Nautical-Theme Compotes, NYC, c. 1883

These compotes are very rare and stunning. Executed by Tiffany & Co, they are beautifully designed and constructed, and very heavy. 

Stunning hammering give the surface a wonderful finish and reflective sparkle. Incised lines twist along the stems conveying movement. This decorative element is used emanating from a central circle on the dishes. Applied to the edges of the dishes are stunning repeating shell and seaweed decorations.

The bases are raised on four feet. One base is applied with various shells and a starfish while the other has applied shells and a sea urchin.

These exceptional tazza or compotes are marked underneath 'TIFFANY & CO/ 7381 MAKERS 9159/ STERLING-SILVER/ M' 2527is also stamped on 1 and '2828' is stamped on the other. They measure 8.75 inches in diameter by just shy of 4.75 inches high, weigh a combined 46.35 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition.
